Russian scientist Injects Himself With Ancient Microorganisms Linked to Immortality.

A Russian scientist has made an odd claim about ancient microorganisms linked to immortality.

According to the Huffington Post, scientist Anatoli Brouchkov, who injected himself with 3.5-million-year-old germs, has declared that it has helped him work longer and avoid the illness for the past two years.

He is the dean of Moscow State University's Geocryology Department.

He offered himself as a guinea pig for the controversial experiment in the hopes of discovering the key to perpetual life as the head.

Brouchkov was reported in The Siberian Times as saying, "I started to work longer; I have never had flu for the last two years," according to Huffington Post.

"I can't professionally define the impacts because it wasn't quite a scientific trial," he continued.

"However, it was evident that I had not caught flu in two years."

"Perhaps there were some negative effects, but specific medical equipment should have been used to detect them." Of course, such tests must be carried out in a clinic with specialized equipment and statistics.

"Then we'd be able to state all of the repercussions."

While scientists are increasingly interested in pursuing eternal life, Brouchkov's approaches are unquestionably contentious.

Bacillus F bacteria was identified to survive in Siberian permafrost in 2009, and researchers are hoping to figure out how its genes aid survival.

Experiments on mice and fruit flies have revealed benefits such as assisting old female mice past reproductive age to bear progeny.

"I thought it would be interesting to attempt the inactivated bacterial culture after successful trials on mice and fruit flies," Brouchkov remarked.

"Furthermore, the permafrost is thawing, and I assume these bacteria get into the environment, into the water, so the local population, the Yakut people, have been ingesting these cells with water for a long time, and they appear to live longer than other nations. As a result, there was no threat to me."

He does agree, though, that his unconventional approach will necessitate proper clinical trials to monitor any potential adverse effects.
